When it comes to sight-seeing, Australia is definitely spoiled for choice. From natural wonders to technological marvels, there is so much to see in this wide brown land. And a good old fashioned road trip means you can see it all up close and personal.

Of course if you’re going to embrace the van life, why not do it in style and take yourself on a road trip in a Kombi campervan from Kombi Haus? That way, your photos at those special places will definitely stand out.

Tasmania’s East Coast

The East Coast of Tassie is a great option for a Kombi road trip. On an average day you could drive from Hobart to Launceston in under 3 hours. But if you’re not in a hurry, the scenic route, where you take your time and enjoy the view, is a far better option.

Start by stocking up on ‘necessities’ in Hobart. If you arrive on a Saturday, swing by the Salamanca Market and grab some fantastic Tasmanian treats for your roadie. Then head to the top of Kunanyi/Mount Wellington to see Hobart from high up.

Heading north in your Kombi camper, you’ll find plenty of places to stop and many sights to see, including Maria Island. Park up your Kombi at Triabunna and take the ferry to Maria Island National Park. You’ll take in amazing scenery and a history you probably never knew.

When you get back on the road in your camper Kombi, head for Swansea. There are long beaches, heaps of fishing spots, lots of scenic walks, and a night sky you could stare at for ages… perfect when you’re living the Kombi van life.

Next up, Freycinet National Park, which has the iconic Wineglass Bay. Choose short walks or longer hikes and enjoy everything the national park has to offer.

As you head north along the coast, stop somewhere and try local oysters, check out the penguins and try your hand at golf. Make your way towards St Helens and the Bay of Fires for another Tassie scenic spectacular.

Southern Queensland Loop

What if you gave the theme parks a miss and headed on a Queensland southern loop adventure in your VW Kombi hire? Tamborine Mountain is the world’s third oldest national park and has so much to offer. Volcano remnants, waterfalls, rainforest, and that’s just the nature. Wineries, art galleries and restaurants are found around here too.

As you make your way in your Kombi towards Lamington National Park, you’ll find nature, culture and history in abundance. You can take it all in, or just enjoy the serenity. Looping back, take yourself via Burleigh Heads and North Stradbroke Island and make the most of our famous Queensland beaches

Wilsons Prom

Some would say Van life is never about the destination and all about the journey, and a Kombi Camper road trip to Wilson’s Prom in Victoria is a perfect example of that.

There’s not a lot of driving to be had inside the prom, but the journey there and back can be just as impressive as your stay in the Prom itself.

Start in Melbourne and head towards Phillip Island. Take some time to enjoy the penguins, the views and the wild coast. Head along to Cape Patterson, Inverloch and through Venus Bay, stopping to take photos, go for hikes, chat to the locals and generally relax. After you’ve enjoyed all that Wilson’s Promontory has to offer, you can go back the same way, or take the long way home, through Gippsland and the Victorian High Country.

A road trip in a Kombi Camper is perfect for when you’ve got time to change your plans. If you stumble across some place you really like, you can park up and enjoy it for a little longer than usual. If that place you thought would be amazing isn’t, you can drive on by. If you feel like you need a taste of the van life, why not do it in style, in a Komi Camper?
